Composer, Educator, Collaborator

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been enamored by the emotional power of music: my curiosity, as I plucked out “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” on the piano by ear as a young child; my excitement, as I picked up my alto saxophone for the first time in fifth grade band; my joy, as I entered the stage during my first show choir competition in middle school. The sorrowful reflection upon experiencing the tour of Les Misérables at the local Civic Center as a teenager; the spine-tingling catharsis whenever my college choir locked in a chord’s intonation “just right”; the exhilaration every time I’ve heard the French horns unleash John Williams’ melody as Anakin and Obi-Wan begin their duel on Mustafar at the start of “Battle of the Heroes”.

These moments, these feelings, are just a handful of the many that have stuck with me throughout my life. They shaped my childhood, helped me discover my passions, and especially piqued my interest in the music of film and games. I believe that music is one of the most powerful tools we have to tell stories to one another, and the right score can elevate the emotional and dramatic weight of a script, narrative, or screenplay in a way that isn’t tangible or describable; instead, it’s a feeling.

In pursuit of that feeling, after graduating with my Bachelor of Music with a focus in Vocal Music Education from Iowa State University in 2024, my desire to tell stories through music brought me to the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program, where I graduated with my Master’s degree in Film Music Composition in 2025. During my time at PNWFS, I had the opportunity to write music for several student films of widely varying genres, gain skills in countless different areas of film and game audio, and write primarily orchestral music for a broad range of ensembles, instruments, and emotional and thematic contexts. This led to what I consider my magnum opus for the degree program, and my Master’s thesis project, an original composition for a 52-piece orchestra inspired by the symphonic and strongly thematic music of the video game Destiny 2, entitled “WAR SONG OF THE BLADED PATH”.
